Washington Healthy Youth Survey
The Washington State Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) measures behaviors among young people that lead to increased health risk.
The survey asks students their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as they relate to a variety of health and safety topics, including school climate and community safety, anxiety and depression, substance use and misuse, and healthy eating habits and physical activity. The HYS is administered every two years, school participation is voluntary, anonymous and free. In 2021, over 200,000 students from all 39 counties in Washington State participated.

HYS Data Note:
HYS data often does not include an array of schools in Okanogan County. Frequently, students in outreach facilities, juvenile detention, or community-based programs, and those who are dis-enrolled are not reflected in HYS data. The Okanogan CHI and its partners will actively support Washington State survey leaders to close these substantial gaps in data collection in future years.
